Easy triangles all stacked up on top of each other make for a pretty quilt. This one is easy with only a single block made with 3 pieces. The fun is all in the colors and layout. The pattern covers 3 different sizes, depending on the size of the triangle – class sample is the medium size. Suitable for a confident beginner, come learn how to fit the triangles together!

Tri-Recs ruler from EZ Quilting – available from Lyons Quilting – unless you’re making the largest size. If so, please contact me for help prior to class.

The class sample is the medium size given on the pattern. Please buy fabric per the pattern for the background and the light colored triangles that “float” on top. For the colored triangles, you can work from fat quarters or scraps – the pattern envelope will give you some ideas. If you need help, Mary will give you assistance during class or you can call her to make an appointment for help prior to class.

Sewing machine with all the usual supplies including a quarter inch foot. I recommend a size 80 needle. For thread, I highly recommend Aurifil – any neutral color.

Rotary cutter & quilter’s ruler – Bring your favorite straight ruler for cutting strips. Please put a new blade in your rotary cutter.

Marking pencils – bring one that will mark on dark fabrics & one that will mark on light fabric. I recommend Sew Line ceramic chalk pencils.

All your favorite sewing notions such as pins, scissors, tweezers, seam ripper, etc. I also recommend that you bring a bottle of Mary Ellen’s Best Press.

Pre-class preparation: None. If you would like help before class picking out fabrics, contact Mary to make an appointment. We will also have plenty of time in class to work on fabric and color choices.

We will be taking a lunch break – feel free to bring your lunch (we have a frig & microwave in the classroom) or we will also be ordering in from a local restaurant.
