HEMMINGWAY POUCH

We love the Hemingway! For all bagmaking skill levels, this popular bag is a quick, cute and useful project! It makes the perfect gift, including for yourself, and the pattern features four size options. This is an especially good beginner bagmaking project (previous general sewing experience and skills required). You will learn how to quilt a foam stabilizer sandwich, work with a zipper in a very easy installation, and binding/miters. For more experienced bag sewists, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills and add a new bag option to your repertoire. It’s safe to say that you aren’t going to be able to make just one!
Instruction will be offered in how to custom size your pouch to hold some special item (bring the item or its dimensions to class) as well as construction and finishing tips and tricks that contribute to a more refined and professional end result. There will also be instruction in how to get two pouches instead of one from fabric yardage indicated in the pattern. (Please see class supply list for more on this).
Beginner bagmakers can expect to complete a pouch in class. More experienced bagmakers could complete more than one. You won’t believe what a quick make this is!
Bring a sack lunch and/or snacks, if you wish. Feel free to contact instructor with any questions.

Supplies to bring to class
-The Hemingway Pouch pattern and all required materials. OR, we will have kits available with all you need except the foam stabilizer. (If you would like to make the two-in-one option, you will need additional foam stabilizer than called for pattern and an additional zipper pull).
-Thread to match bag fabrics, you may want several colors to match everything. Polyester thread is generally recommended for all bag construction seams, but cotton will also work for this pattern.
-Sewing machine and attachments
-Your favorite all-purpose presser foot
-Walking foot
-Edge stitch foot (aka blind hem foot), if you have one
-Zipper foot
-Rotary cutter and ruler(s)
-Size 90/14 Topstitching needles (Microtex also works. Not universal or ball point tip. The topstitching needle
