BAGMAKING – JANUARY BAG OF THE MONTH - THE COMPASS BAG BY NOODLEHEAD
Two class sessions: Tuesdays, January 14th and 28th, 10am-3pm both days
Noodlehead bag patterns are very popular due to their cut-above level of sophistication and excellent instructions. The Compass Bag is a perfect example! Join us to create one for yourself or as a welcomed gift. This attractive bag pattern can be made in two sizes: Large (11 1/2” wide x 13” high x 5” deep) or Small (9 1/2"” wide x 11” high x 4” deep). It features an interior zipper pocket and divided slip pocket, along with the options of an adjustable crossbody strap or fixed length shoulder strap and exterior slip pockets or cargo pockets with flaps. There is a center seam on the bag front and back that provides the fun opportunity to vary your exterior fabrics, as we did on our shop sample.
This class will include tips and methods for achieving professional-looking topstitching, how to prevent a baggy lining, installation of magnet closures and constructing a rectangular bag base (it’s easier than you think). We will also cover optional rivet placement and instructor will have a rivet press and rivets in class to practice with and use on your bag, if you wish.
This is an advanced beginner/intermediate bagmaking class and it is helpful if you have previously worked with zippers and bag thicknesses.
Please review the pattern prior to class. Feel free to contact instructor with any questions.
Bring a sack lunch and/or snacks, if you wish.
