BAGMAKING – AUGUST BAG OF THE MONTH - THE by ANNIE ULTIMATE TRAVEL BAG 2.0
This roomy, sharp-looking bag is one of Annie’s most popular patterns! Makers have been known to stop each other in airports and compare their UTBs! This bag can be used as an airplane carry-on, large diaper bag, a gym bag, etc. Although it makes a very special gift, don’t you deserve one for yourself? It features handles plus a removeable shoulder strap with pad, a trolley sleeve for a rolling luggage handle, an acrylic base stabilizer for great support, exterior slip pockets and a zippered pocket. For the interior, you have the option of making a zipper pocket and elasticized slip pocket from either mesh or fabric.
This is an intermediate bagmaking class and it is advisable that you have previously worked with zippers, mesh, webbing, bias binding, quilting foam stabilizer and thicknesses. The construction of this bag is actually very straightforward; the greatest challenge it presents is its size/bulk, especially in the final steps of assembly and binding the inside seams. Instruction will include a very useful binding hack and the option of stapling the large pieces together, rather than using Wonder Clips. Use of purse feet instead of buttons as called for in pattern will also be covered.
A helpful head start to the class will be to have all required pieces quilted Sets A, B and C, ready to cut out, but this is not required.
We offer a UTB kit (details below) or you may purchase pattern along with materials of your own choice.
Bring a sack lunch and/or snacks, if you wish.
