BAGMAKING SEPTEMBER BAG OF THE MONTH - THE BY ANNIE RUNNING WITH SCISSORS

What a useful and well-designed bag this is! In a fairly compact size, like a little brief case, it holds a remarkable array and number of sewing tools and notions. It’s great for classes and retreats, but also at home to keep things corralled in your sewing space. It features interior divided slip pockets, zippered vinyl and mesh pockets, elastic holders, etc. The companion and separate pattern to the RWS is Take A Stand, which will be the October Bag of the Month classes. The smaller of the two bags in that pattern is sized exactly to prop up the RWS, open, to reach for things easily. But you do not need a Take A Stand bag to make wonderful use of the Running With Scissors tool case.

Annie designed the RWS at Tula Pink’s request, specifically to hold Tula’s line of rainbow sewing tools in the divided interior pockets. Those pocket dimensions are provided in the pattern, but can be very easily modified for your specific needs. You will want to be thinking about what items you would like to carry in your bag and bring it all to class for the customizing part of the project.

Previous bagmaking experience will be very helpful. Skills you will employ include working with foam stabilizer and quilting with that, zipper installation (5 in this pattern!), sewing elastic, mesh and vinyl, covering webbing handles with fabric and applying bias binding. You may opt to cut and quilt the pieces ahead of time and/or work on your project between the two classes. This is not required, however. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace. This is not a project to rush; organizing and careful planning pay off big with this bag.

Bring a sack lunch and/or snacks, if you wish.
