This sturdy wreath works great on a table around a candle or you can hang it on a door. Whether you choose Halloween, Christmas, Fall or other holidays, this is an easy decoration project that you can finish quickly.
Fold ‘n Stitch Wreath pattern by Poor House Quilt Designs (available at Lyons Quilting)
Fabric per the pattern instructions – 5/8 yard of 3 different fabrics – you want strong contrast.
2/3 yard Pellon 71F Peltex One-Sided Fusible Ultra Firm Stabilizer (available at Lyons Quilting) OR 2/3 yard Pellon 70 Peltex Ultra Firm Stabilizer (not fusible, also available at Lyons Quilting). The fusible one is easier to use but either will work.
½ yard of Steam A Seam Lite 2 Fusible Web (available at Lyons Quilting)
Sewing machine with zig zag capability with all the usual supplies, especially a quarter inch foot and a zig zag foot. I recommend a size 90 needle. For thread, I recommend Aurifil for piecing the wreath – any neutral color will be fine. You will also want a thread for a decorative zig zag stitch – you can use 40 wt polyester, quilting thread – anything that looks pretty with your fabric. If you have a walking foot, bring that too – but not required.
Rotary cutter & quilter’s ruler – I recommend a 12 ½” square ruler but whatever you like best will be fine.
Marking pencils – bring one that will mark on dark fabrics & one that will mark on light fabric.
All your favorite sewing notions such as pins, scissors, tweezers, seam ripper, etc. I also recommend that you bring a bottle of Mary Ellen’s Best Press.
We will be taking a lunch break; you can either bring a lunch or we will be placing an order from Lyons Dairy Bar
Pre-class preparation: Cut your Peltex (either fusible or not) into 12 squares that measure 6” x 6”. Cut your Steam a Seam Lite 2 into 2 sheets that measure 11” x 16”.
