Come learn how to make an adorable stuffed animal in the color and fabric of your own choosing. There are a whole menagerie of critters for you to choose from…all super cute. This class is suitable for students who can sew some curves and handle organization. There are a lot of pieces – because that makes the sewing easier. Pick any animal you want – Lyons Quilting will order any pattern you want if we don’t carry it in stock.
SUPPLY LIST

Any Funky Friends Factory Stuffed Animal pattern (available at Lyons’ Quilting – we’ll order a pattern for you if we don’t carry your favorite one!)

Fabric – You will need yardage per the specific pattern you’ve chosen. Use your imagination & go whimsical! Kaffe, Tula and Aboriginals are all great choices.  Mary will help you with this – feel free to contact Mary prior to class to discuss. You will also need a bag of stuffing – Lyons’ Quilting carries a great brand that is easy to work with. Read the pattern – you will probably also need eyes and some fabric for the nose. For the class sample, Mary used buttons for the eyes and a scrap of Ultrasuede for the nose – felt would also work.

Machine Sewing Thread – 50 weight neutral color, this thread won’t show

Sewing machine with all the usual supplies, especially a quarter inch foot.  I recommend using a size 80 needle for this project. In this class, you are expected to have experience operating your sewing machine.

Rotary cutter & quilter’s ruler –I recommend bringing your favorite rotary cutting rulers, especially a good square such as a Creative Grids 12 ½”. Because the pieces are small, you might want to bring a smaller ruler.

All your favorite sewing notions such as scissors, tweezers, seam ripper, pins, etc. Please also bring your favorite marking tools that will mark on light and dark fabrics. Mary also recommends Mary Ellen’s Best Press. You will also need a good pair of fabric scissors and you will need to cut paper as well.

We will be taking a lunch break; you can either bring a lunch or we will be placing an order from Lyons Dairy Bar

Pre-class preparation: Please cut out the pattern pieces in the pattern prior to class on the cutting lines. If you know what fabrics you want to use, you can also trace the pattern pieces on to the fabrics and cut out each piece with fabric scissors. The pattern gives good instructions for this. If you do cut out the pieces prior to class, you’ll have a lot more time for sewing (which is the harder part!).
