Want to light up your wall with this bright and shiny quilt, but think you can't make it? You can! Really! This 4-session class will take you through the quilting process, from beginning to end. Topics include: fabric selection, rotary cutting, precise machine piecing, half-square and quarte r-square triangles, sandwiching, quilting, and binding. The pattern is included in the price of the class and includes instructions for a 42” x 42” wall quilt (plus directions for making larger sizes). This class is appropriate for beginning quilters who are confident using a 

  • Rotary cutter with a fresh blade, and acrylic rulers (If you need to purchase them: a 45 mm cutter is recommended, and a rectangular ruler that is 3 - 6” wide and 12 - 24” long is a good basic ruler). Cutting mats are provided for use during class.

  • Sewing machine, feet, bobbins and needles (size 80/12 is recommended)

  • All purpose piecing thread (usually in a color to match background, or a neutral, e.g. gray or beige)

  • The basics: pins, needles, seam ripper, scissors

  • Fabric (Session #1 will include “how to choose fabrics” and time to shop, so it is not necessary to have your fabrics purchased beforehand):

    • 1 yard for background

    • ¾ yard for outer border

    • 5 fat quarters for block

    • 1/2 yard for binding

    • 1 1/4 yard for backing

  • Other optional supplies will be discussed in class, allowing plenty of time to acquire them.

  • There will be a break for lunch, so you may bring a lunch or cash for ordering take-out.
