While you make this super simple quilt you’ll learn to rotary cut like a pro and piece using precise quarter inch seams. Plus there will be a demonstration on how to put on a border & finish your quilt. It’s Fat Quarter Friendly and is a great project for beginners!
Yellow Brick Road
Donna Mae Norris; firstname.lastname@example.org
Pattern: Yellow Brick Road by Atkinson Designs
Sewing machine including ¼ inch foot if you have one (bring all the feet if you’re not sure)
Rotary cutting equipment—cutter & ruler—about 6”X24” (store provides mats)
Optional ruler—large square ruler is helpful, 9 ½” square or larger if possible
Thread to coordinate—probably grey or off white
Basic sewing supplies—pins, scissors, thread snips, seam ripper, etc.
See the back of the pattern for the amount of fabric needed for the size of quilt that you plan to make. This quilt is “Fat Quarter Friendly” so a full ¼ yard cut (9” X 44”) won’t work well. A fat quarter is 18” X 22”.
Consider purchasing the border & binding fabrics at the same time as your fat quarters because your favorite fabric may not be available later.
Note: Because this is a full day class, there will be a break for lunch. You may bring your own lunch or we will place an order from the Lyons Dairy Bar (they have great sandwiches!). Please bring cash if you would like us to order for you.
